Achievement at a glance
Two new parliamentary chapters established at Parliaments of Samoa and Fiji. Ongoing SDG16 and anti-corruption development work happening in other pacific Parliaments. Kiribati and New Zealand chapters renewed.
Challenges faced in implementation
The election cycle in the 15 Pacific SIDS interrupts progress though democratic elections are a core element of SDG16.
Next steps
Progress establishment of GOPAC Niue and GOPAC Tuvalu, with planning for groups in Nauru and Palau. We have also offered to undertake capacity building with the Papua New Guinea Parliament after the June 2017 elections.
