Status of initiative: N/a
Description/achievement of initiative

General objective: Strengthen the knowledge and preparedness of the Caribbean Region in the technical area of tsunami and earthquake disaster preparedness and emergency prevention.Specific objective: Enhance the knowledge of CDEMA and National Disaster Offices (NDO`s) of the CDEMA Member States in general aspects related to seismic activity and tsunamis, specifically inundation mapping, tsunami and earthquake drills, and state of the art approaches to seismic technology and investigation.

Implementation methodologies

The project aims to contribute to the strengthening of CDEMA in the areas of earthquake and tsunamis through technical assistance and exchange of experiences and knowledge of the Chilean and Spanish institutions involved in project. The technical cooperation provided by AGCI and AECID respects the principles of ownership, alignment, no conditionality and the comparative advantages of South-South cooperation. Specific implementation methodologies include:--Field visits to Chile--Train the trainers workshops--Participation in tsunami/earthquake drills in Chile and implementation of drill in Jamaica--Training courses and workshops--Technical assistance by Chilean and Spanish experts
